When the Leads Go Quiet … A Small Experiment in Visibility!

Last week and this week, the silence has been a little deafening. The few leads that have been coming through haven't been exactly promising, mostly industry peers researching prices rather than clients ready to buy. Sound familiar? When the usual hum of business goes quiet, it’s easy to start wondering if anyone can actually see you, right?
Instead of waiting for things to pick up, I decided to try something new.
Today I experimented with creating a short, animated video. And honestly? It was so much fun. It reminded me of that feeling you get the first time you pick up a paintbrush, start writing something new, or try a hobby you’ve never attempted before. There’s curiosity, a little uncertainty, and a surprising amount of joy in simply trying.
The idea was simple: a Barbie-style doll holding a tiny sign, expressing the frustration many of us feel when we’re trying to be seen online. No professional animator. No big production budget. Just me, an idea, and a small sign that, unfortunately, ended up with a few very wonky typos. 😅
Some of you might be thinking, “Why not hire a professional?”. And honestly, I understand that perspective more than ever now.
Sometimes you want to hire a specialist. You know the value they bring. But cash flow doesn’t always cooperate, and the idea in your head refuses to wait politely for a better financial quarter. So, you do what many entrepreneurs and small businesses do: you try it yourself.
You experiment. You learn. You stretch a little beyond your comfort zone.
And occasionally, you laugh at the imperfections. This small experiment reminded me of something important: Visibility and engagement don’t magically happen. I have learned that posting content alone isn’t a strategy. Being seen online requires intention, consistency, and thoughtful planning. Even a creative idea can fall flat if it isn’t supported by a clear approach.
Will I try it again? Absolutely! The next round will include fixing the typos and turning this playful experiment into a way of highlighting a real client pain point: being visible online isn’t about just posting. It’s about building a strategy that actually helps people find you. If anything, the biggest takeaway from today wasn’t the video itself. It was the process.
Sometimes the process, and yes, even the mistakes, are the most valuable part. They stretch you, teach you something new, and open your perspective in ways that perfect execution never could.
Today reminded me: sometimes the quiet weeks are simply an invitation to experiment.
**A small side note: if you’ve got an idea you’ve been itching to try, I’d love to help you bring it to life. Just remember to set aside a little budget. These AI tools are magical… but they still require ZAR. 💸
